Umrah In January

Syukur alhamdulillah, skali lagi last weekend kami satu family dapat menunaikan ibadah umrah. Kat sini memang orang akan berpusu-pusu mengambil kesempatan ke Kota Mekkah di bulan-bulan sebegini. Musim selepas haji dan sebelum kerajaan Saudi buka application visa ke orang ramai untuk umrah. So takdelah ramai sangat seperti bulan-bulan biasa.

Pada mulanya ingat nak pergi naik aeroplane sebab belum pernah lagi, tetapi tengok-tengok timing tak sesuai dengan kitorang. So last-last decide to just make the 14hour drive there. Convenient for us.

Bertolak selepas Asar dalam pukul 3.30pm kalau tak silap. Sampai Taif untuk miqat awal pagi the next day. Alhamdulillah it was an uneventful journey except for that one checkpoint where we got stopped. Kenapa? Sebab at first I duduk belakang with the kids and so the police at the checkpoint immediately assumed that hubby was A DRIVER (male and female travelling alone with no relation ~ absolute NO! NO!). Lepas tuu terus si suami mintaku pindah duduk depan. Nasib ler Zayn kena pangku sepanjang perjalanan tak dapat nak golek2.

Oh, but bila hubby sebut jer kat polis tuu I nii MADAM dia (that means WIFE in Saudi english) and that we were MALAYSIANS, terus senyum simpul polis tuu tak cakap banyak dah. They LOVE Malaysians here, esp because of Tun Mahathir.

So anyway, performing the ibadah itself, well you have to go and experience it yourself. I can't put how I feel into words that justify. Honestly, just go. But I have to be honest, this time macam penat SEDIKIT, walaupun bulatan tawaf itu sangat kecil. Sebabnya Zayn dah besar, nak duk dalam carrier dah tak muat. Lyssa pulak dah pandai cakap PENAT. So kenalah dukung sorang satu. Sepanjang tawaf and saei. But Alhamdulillah, Allah permudahkan semuanya. Takde yang nangis or buat perangai lelebih.

Just wanted to share a memorable experience that I had this time around.

I got to perform solat Isyaa berjemaah dalam Masjidil Haram without the kids one night. So I took the chance to find room to solat at the womens' area dekat tawaf circle depan Kaabah. I knew I was sooooo late, sebab nak dekat azan dah and the area dah nak tutup sebab penuh. Tapi hati nii berdoa agar Allah bukakan ruang sebab nak merasa sesangat solat kat situ. And Alhamdulillah, berjaya menyelit between two Arab ladies and some Indonesians.

The thing was, the spot was empty when I saw it BUT the arab lady said to me that it was for her mama. I knew as much arabic as she knew english but some messages got across, boleh jugak borak skit2. Coincidentally, she was also from the same town as me, Jubail, and her husband worked at the same parent company as my husband. Berbual macam ayam dengan itik jugak lah. Then tetiba, her mother came yelling and mumbling and I just knew she was telling me to get out of her spot hheeheheheh... tapi buat tak faham jer lah.

But the kind lady on the other side of me motioned for the Indonesion ladies to move over and make room for me. So sweet! Nasib baik! Siap senyum-senyum and asyik sapu tangan dia over my shoulder. Tapi sempat jugak dia motioned to me to cover my face and said something like "ya helwa", heheheheh smile smile.

So dapatlah solat Isyaa kat tawaf circle tuu. Before balik siap peluk cium dengan the arab ladies and I also salam the mother, who just laughed and hugged me. Oh, and dia tanya "Malayzee?" Bila jawab yes jer, pun terus peluk cium lagi cakap "Masyaallah, Masyaallah".

Bangga jadi rakyat Malaysia :-)

This trip first time orang tegur suruh tutup muka. First an elderly man who I bumped into TWICE and did the hand motion thing which I failed to understand the first time. (Memula ingat dia tegur sebab I was nursing Zayn the first time, tapi kali kedua masa saei pun dia buat motion tangan yang sama). Then the Arab ladies tuu tegur jugak.

Now dah selamat sampai rumah Alhamdulillah semoga dapat pergi lagi satu hari nanti.

Kita teringin sangat nak buat umrah..nak have the feel of it of being THERE. Dah mimpi a few times of Kaabah. Harap2 rezeki murah soon to be there.

Whenis the best time to do umrah? After Hajj is it? Or Ramadhan?

Suruh tutup muka as in purdah ke wak?

The best time would be as soon as they open application for umrah visa I would think (bulan 3 calendar Islam) in terms of org tak ramai sgt lagi I would assume. In terms of pahala of course laa bulan Ramadhan. Pahala seperti menunaikan haji rasanya (sila chk yer, I read that somewhere but not sure of the source).

After Hajj, no umrah visa for few months for ppl outside KSA so tuu yg kita2 kat sini take advantage tuu.

Dtg laa awak... Mmg worth the trip.

*i think so laa... tutup muka as in pakai niqab...
